My concept behind the design was to counter the scores enormity of scale represented in the gallery space and condense it down to a miniature format that would become a message in a bottle. These were then given by Cat as thank you gift to people involved with the exhibition. |
Plug is a work by Cat Hope and was premiered at the “you are here…entangle” sound exhibition at the Moores Building, Fremantle WA as part of the 2006 Totally Huge New Music Festival.
For this installation I worked with an existing fiberglass head to insert and wire up over fifty mini jack connectors. Not an easy task and resulted in the removal of fiberglass shards from my arms for weeks after completion. For more information about 'Plug' go to http://www.cathope.com/plug-2006.html |
The piece was commissioned as part of research project for the Biennale Electronic Arts Perth ("BEAP") in 2004 and first exhibited at the John Curtin Gallery at Curtin University in Western Australia as part of the Perth International Arts Festival in 2005.
For this installation I worked on the foam fabrication that involved frame fitting and embedding the voice recorders. Steve Matzkov dealt with all electrical aspects of the piece. For more information on 'Pick Pocket' go to http://www.cathope.com/plug-2006.html |
