A film directed by Cat Hope and shot by Andrew Ewing, 'Close' was made to coincide with the Gata Negra 2002 release Saint Dymphnae on Bloodstar and premiered at their launch at the Amplifier Bar that same year. This clip has me doing some rather unmentionable things to my co star Racheal Dease and has her slapping me around a bit as well.

Fetish was directed and edited by Cat Hope and shot by Tania Visosevic. Fetish is the title track for Cat Hope's solo noise release through Bloodstar and Menschenfeild in the US.
They say "you suffer for your art", I say "for other peoples art you just run the risk of serious back injury". This clip had Allan Smith and myself carrying a body Rakini Devi) up an almost vertical stair case and through a roof top opening. On saying that I enjoyed every minute of the shoot. Need to point out that our ghoulish get up pre-dates Pulp Fiction. Listen the record here. https://cathope.bandcamp.com/album/fetish |

Synopsis: West Australian new music ensemble Decibel embarks on a regional tour of the state's southwest, taking their strange, sometimes confronting music to small towns and baffled locals who never saw it coming. Some audiences embrace them, some ridicule them, and some give them a taste of their own medicine. No Encore is a road movie and music documentary: a contemplation of the validity of forms of self expression; what’s meaningful, meaningless and what’s in between; and what happens when art is displaced from its comfortable natural habitat

Excerpt from director, Stuart Benders vimeo page
"It is 2001; the mp3 phenomenon has not yet taken place, experimental/noise musicians release their work on CD-R and perform only in specialist arts festivals. My experimental documentary examines the work of five musicians in Perth; pitting their music against a variable mesh of film styles, techniques and genres in an effort to explore the possible relationship(s) between this music and alternative visuals. Featuring Al Smith, Cat Hope, Steve Matzkov, Karl Ford, and Karl B GOMST. Directed and edited by Stuart Bender (2001)." |
Fat cop. That's me. The sequence that was originally shot for the film looked like a bunch of office workers filming themselves beating up a homeless guy to put on You tube. In steps Constable Karl with a quick homemade out fit and BAM! perps are going down.
